Our History

The Journey Of A Thousand Miles

Ebenezer was conceived out of faith, inspired, and led by the Holy Spirit, with a vision to nurture the complete individual—body, spirit, and soul—and to guide disciples blamelessly until the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our inaugural service took place on Sunday, September 1, 1996, at 50 Erie Street, Toronto, under the leadership of our founder Bishop Dr. Glenford G. Duffus and Lady Janet Duffus. Subsequently, we relocated to 51 Toro Road, North York, and eventually acquired our present location at 101 Rossdean Drive, Toronto.

For nearly twenty-eight years, we have been actively involved in evangelism and discipleship, providing services such as academic tutoring, counseling, baby dedications, marriage ceremonies, and funerals. We have extended our outreach to feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting the sick and shut-ins. Collaborating with individuals and agencies, we’ve addressed food insecurities and supplied school supplies to communities across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.

Presently, the Ebenezer community comprises fourteen (14) churches in Canada, the USA, Haiti, and Jamaica. Our profound satisfaction arises from the multitude of souls saved and the countless lives positively impacted by our diverse ministries. Witnessing our people walk in truth brings us great joy. The worship experiences at Ebenezer, characterized by the holistic development of believers and the palpable presence of the Lord, are truly transformative, enriching, and gratifying. Here, individuals encounter God in a profound way and undergo meaningful transformation.

If you’re seeking a church where the word of God is preached, taught, and lived out, your search ends here.

About The Church

We believe that everyone who is connected to the risen and ascended Son of God is part of the church. This church, known as the body and bride of Christ, started at Pentecost and is different from Israel. Being a member of an organized earthly church doesn’t determine your status as part of this church; it’s about being united with Christ by the Spirit. In this age, all believers, whether Jews or Gentiles, are brought into one body belonging to Christ through baptism by the Spirit. Once part of this body, believers have a responsibility to maintain unity, rise above differences, and love each other sincerely. (Matt. 16:16–18; Acts 2:42–47; Rom. 12:5; 1 Cor. 12:12–27; Eph. 1:20–23; 4:3–10; Col. 3:14–15)
